Webbers Falls basketball teams each enjoy 2-1 week

The Webbers Falls Warriors and Lady Warriors each enjoyed a 2-1 week last week on the hardwood.

The Warriors defeated Gans 41-22 on Feb. 4 at Bryant “Big Country” Reeves Fieldhouse, then won 60-55 over Indianola on Thursday night at Webbers Falls Event Center before ending the week losing to local rival Gore 6235 on Friday night at Gore Event Center.

The Lady Warriors had a very similar week, beating Gans 42-21 on Feb. 4 and defeating Indianola 50-33 on Thursday before losing 51-24 to Gore on Friday night.

In the boys’ Riverside Conference win over Gans, the Warriors (7-13 overall, 2-6 in Riverside Conference play) jumped out to a 15-9 lead after a period, which became a 25-12 advantage at halftime and a 37-20 lead after three quarters.

For the game, Thadan Yandell and Luke Pierce each scored 11 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Chevy Cole and Brutus Robinson each with eight points, Eli Hefflin with five points and Gunner Shelby, Elliott Kunkel and Cordae Shine with two points apiece.

In the boys’ victory over Indianola, the Warriors led 15-9 after a quarter, 34-23 at the half and 47-42 after three periods.

For the game, Webbers Falls put a trio of players into double figures, led by Robinson’s 15 points, followed by Cole’s 14 points and Yandell’s 10 points. Shelby scored nine points, while Pierce and Kunkel had six points apiece.

In the boys’ loss to Gore, the Pirates jumped out to a 21-5 lead after a period en route to a 32-10 halftime advantage and a 46-20 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In defeat, Yandell and Pierce each scored eight points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Trysten Wilbourn with seven points, Hefflin with four points, Ryker Gilley with three points, Cole and Kunkel with two points each and Shelby with a free throw.

In the girls’ Riverside Conference win over Gans, the Lady Warriors (11-9 overall, 4-4 in Riverside Conference play) jumped out to a 14-4 lead after a quarter en route to a 23-8 halftime advantage and a 32-14 lead after three quarters.

For the game, Bridgette Baer scored 18 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Bailey Ward with eight points, Madison Smith with six points, River Harrison and Peyton Shanks with three points each and Cheyanne Harrier and Haley Shanks with two points apiece.

In the girls’ victory over Indianola, the Lady Warriors jumped out to a 11-8 lead after a quarter en route to a 27-14 halftime advantage and a 33-26 lead after three quarters.

For the game, Webbers Falls put a trio of players into double figures, led by Baer’s 11 points and 10 points apiece from Herrier and Kailey Mannon. Audri Spears had seven points, followed by Ward with six points, Smith with four points and Paizley Turley with two points.

In the girls’ loss to Gore, the Lady Pirates had a 4-0 lead after a period en route to a 14-8 halftime advantage and a 31-17 lead after three quarters.

In defeat, Smith led Webbers Falls with nine points, followed by Herrier and Baer with five points each, Ward with three points and Mannon with two points.
