By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Webbers Falls Warriors baseball team went 1-2 on opening week of the 2025 season last week, beating Arkoma 14-6 on March 3, but losing back-to-back games to Porter Consolidated — falling 11-1 Thursday afternoon in Porter and 13-1 at home Friday afternoon at Eual Carter Sports Complex.

In the win over Arkoma, the Warriors rallied from a 6-0, fourthinning deficit with a 10-run fifth inning and a four-run sixth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Brutus Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in, while Gunner Shelby doubled with two runs scored and an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Luke Pierce (1-1) got the win in relief, being the beneficiary of the Warriors’ 10-run fifth inning, as he struck out four batters in 2.2 innings. Ryan Cowan started and lasted 1.1 innings with three Ks. Shelby pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

In Thursday’s road loss to Porter Consolidated, the Pirates jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning. After the Warriors cut their deficit to 3-1 after two innings, the Pirates scored once in the third inning, four runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the sixth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Shelby, Cowan, Hayden Stephens and Aiden Turley all singled for the Warriors.

Pierce took the loss, going the first 3.1 innings with a strikeout. Elliott Kunkel went the next 1.2 innings with four Ks.

In the home defeat to Porter Consolidated, the Pirates jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning and a 13-1 lead by the end of the second inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Stephens was 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Shelby and Trysten Wilbourn each singled for the Warriors.
