Webbers Falls Warriors beat Quinton, lose to McCurtain, Keota
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Webbers Falls Warriors baseball team went 1-2 last week, beating Quinton 14-6 on March 10 at Eual Carter Sports Complex but losing 6-5 in eight innings at McCurtain on March 11 and 11-7 to Keota on Thursday at home.

Friday’s home game against Porum was canceled due to having too many players participating in the 2025 Oklahoma Youth Expo last weekend in Oklahoma City.

In the win over Quinton, the Warriors (2-4) rallied from a 6-3 fifthinning deficit by scoring four runs in the fifth in-ning and seven runs in the sixth inning.

For the game, Ryan Cowan doubled with a run batted in and a run scored for Webbers Falls.

Elliott Kunkel (1-2) got his first win of the season in relief, going the final 1.2 innings with two strikeouts. Brutus Robinson started and went the first four innings with eight Ks, then Luke Pierce got the first out of the fifth inning by strikeout.

In the loss to Mc-Curtain, the Bulldogs scored once in the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-all to force extra innings, then won the game with a run in the eighth inning.

In defeat, Aiden Turley was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Cowan was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Gunner Shelby doubled with two RBIs and Pierce doubled and scored once for the Warriors (2-3).

Kunkel suffered the loss in relief, going the final 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. Cowan started the game, going the first five innings with three Ks.

In the loss to Keota, the Lions rallied from a 3-1 first-inning deficit with a three-run third inning and a four-run fifth inning to take a 8-3 lead. The Warriors cut their deficit to four runs three times over the late innings, the last time at 11-7 in the seventh inning, but got no closer.

In defeat, Shelby doubled with two runs scored, Trysten Wilbourn tripled with two runs scored and an RBI and Zane Nolan had a single with two RBIs.

Kunkel took the loss, going five innings with five strikeouts. Shelby went the final two innings with three Ks.
