Donald Rufus Covington

March 19, 1934 – March 27, 2025

Funeral services for Donald Rufus Covington, 91, of Sallisaw were at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mr. Covington was born on March 9, 1934, in Price’s Chapel to Myrtle (Diffee) Covington and Rufus Covington. He passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Fort Smith.

He was married to Loretta “Retta” (Nelson) Covington on March 23, 1953, in Van Buren. She preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2018.

He was retired from Arkansas Oklahoma Gas and a member of Sallisaw Church of Christ.

Survivors are two daughters, Donna Phillips and Dave of Bella Vista, Ark., and Toni Ruark of Sallisaw; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.
