Former Vian softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers enjoyed a 5-1 week last week.
The Lady Mountaineers swept a home doubleheader from Southwestern Christian on March 25 in Wilburton by scores of 9-1 in five innings and 4-1, then went on the road and took two games from Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on Thursday by scores of 1-0 and 12-7.
On Saturday, the Lady Mountaineers split their road games with Rose State College as they took the opener 4-2 but lost the nightcap 5-2.
In the opening win over Southwestern Christian, Wells was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while going hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap.
In the opener against NOC-Enid, Wells was hitless in three trips to the plate, but she broke out in the nightcap as she went 4-for-4 with her fifth and sixth home runs of the season, three RBIs and two runs scored.
In the Game 1 win over Rose State, Wells went l-for-3, but she went hitless in three atbats in the nightcap.
Through 34 games, Wells is hitting .400 with three doubles, three triples, six homers, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases.
Wells and the Lady Mountaineers (21-13) were slated to get their week started with a home Monday doubleheader against archrival Carl Albert State College in Wilburton, then will travel for a 2 p.m. Thursday twinbill at Seminole State College followed by a home doubleheader against NOC-Tonkawa at 1 p.m. Saturday and a 1 p.m. home twinbill next Tuesday against Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College.
