Vian Lady Wolverines softball team go 2-4 last week
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

The Vian Lady Wolverines slow-pitch softball team went 2-4 last week.

The only wins came in Thursday’s Webbers Falls Festival, in which they rallied past the host Lady Warriors 3-2 and defeated the Heavener Lady Wolves 5-1.

Last week started with a 9-4 road loss to Muldrow on March 24, then a pair of road losses to Warner by scores of 7-0 and 2-1 on March 25.

In the win over Webbers Falls, Kaidence Roark’s grounder scored Tress Sandlin from third base with the gamewinning run in the seventh inning for the Lady Wolverines (4-4).

For the game, Kala Gibbins was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, Halli Russell was 2-for-4, Sandlin was 2-for-3 and scored the game-winning run and Roark was 2-for-2 with the game-winning RBI and a run scored for Vian. Rayleigh Terrill (4-4) got the win.

In the victory over Heavener, the Lady Wolverines scored once in the second inning, three runs in the fourth inning and once in the fifth inning for a 5-0 lead. The Lady Wolves scored once in the seventh inning but their rally came up short.

For the game, Terrill was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Aubree Craighead was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Eden Gilbert was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Vian. Terrill got the win.

In the loss to Muldrow, the Lady Wolverines scored once in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 7-4, but the Lady Bulldogs scored twice in their half of the frame to seal the deal.

In defeat, Terrill, Craighead and Roark each were 2-for-3 with a run scored, while LaKoeta Cheater was 2-for-3 for Vian. Terrill took the loss.

In the Game 1 loss to Warner, the Lady Eagles broke a scoreless tie with a seven-run sixth inning for a 7-0 lead. Four of Warner’s runs were unearned due to three Vian errors.

In defeat, Gilbert, Cheater and Eden Girty were all 2-for-3 for Vian. Terrill took the loss.

In the Game 2 loss to Warner, after the Lady Wolverines took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Eagles scored twice in the sixth inning for the come-from-behind win to cap the doubleheader sweep.

In defeat, Russell was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Gilbert was 2-for-3 for Vian. Terrill took the loss.
