Cherokee Nation announces lunch & learn opportunities

Learn more about the rich history and thriving culture of the largest tribal nation in the United States through three upcoming lunch & learn sessions hosted by Cherokee Nation.

Aimed to educate the public about Cherokee history and culture, each session will take place from noon to 1 p.m. and will focus on curriculum that examines specific historical events, people and more.

Upcoming lunch & learn sessions include the following: May 20 — Sam Houston and the Cherokees, presented by Cherokee Nation citizen and historian Jay Hannah.

June 10 — 19th and 20th century Cherokee rolls and censuses, presented by senior genealogist Gene Norris.

These lunch & learn sessions will be hosted at the Tahlequah Armory Municipal Center, located at 100 N. Water Ave. Those who plan on attending are encouraged to bring their own lunch; however, light refreshments will be provided.

Additional lunch & learn sessions will be made available throughout the year. For an updated schedule and more information, go to https://visitcherokeenation. com/classes/ lunch-and-learn/.
