RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and the Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns lost their home regular-season finale series to the visiting Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs over the weekend at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex.
The Golden Suns split Friday’s doubleheader, winning the opener 2-0 but losing the nightcap 3-2.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs clinched the threegame, Great American Conference series with a 4-2 victory.
In Friday’s opener, Gibbins was hitless in two at-bats, while going hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap.
In Saturday’s loss, Gibbins was hitless in two at-bats but scored once.
Through 54 games this season, Gibbins is batting .305 with 17 doubles, two triples, a home run, 23 runs batted in, 28 runs scored and eight stolen bases.
Gibbins and the Golden Suns (27-27 overall, 16-17 in GAC Play) will be idle until meeting Southern Nazarene University at 6 p.m. Thursday in the GAC Tournament in Bentonville, Ark.
