1 Corinthians 12:21-22 “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:” I am extremely concerned about what I hear about the thoughts of what is referred to as Gen X. They are very pleased with their technol down on people who r’hiir/~h cannot use it like they can. Isaiah speaks of them in Isaiah 5:21 “Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”
What they fail to understand is the very people they critize are the ones that provided the technology for them to use. Without their forefathers, they would still be rubbing sticks together to make fire. Yet, they become so skilled with their technology that they do not want to acknowledge that their parents and grandparents provided it.
Gen Xers have a simple motto; “If you want something done right, do it yourself”, but as we raised our little “Mini Me’s” we saw that they could not make a peanut butter jelly sandwich, mow a straight line, separate their laundry or call for a job interview. They had to be educated by the older generation to fulfill these simple daily tasks. They could make their IPhone dance, though!
I was reading an article about common sense. The Speaker was Roger Kimball, the editor and publisher of The New Criterion. As he talked about common sense he made a statement about common sense being different today. I will quote his comment, “After all, it is common sense tp pretend that men are women? Is it common sense to pretend that you do not know what a woman is?” His comments were delivered to the student body at Hillsdale College and was reported in the February addition of Imprimis. The entire atricle caused much thought to those who actually read it without bias.
The World today lacks common sense in many, many of its thoughts, especially about their thought on God, the Bible and Creation. To maintain their present lifestyle, they must deny all three of these to be true. If they admit they are true, then they admit that they are not living as a Holy God requires. If they admit that, they must admit that they are sinners in need of a Savior.
They do not want to give up their lifestyle or the actions that go against what the Bible teaches, so they must condemn the Word of Gosd as a falsehood lest it condemn them and they actions! Let me quote a section of scripture recorded thousands of years ago.
Proverbs 30:11-14 “There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.”
Is this Generation X? Maybe it is one of the following: Generation X: Born roughly between 1965 and 1980. Millennial (Generation Y): Born roughly between 1981 and 1996. Generation Z: Born roughly between 1997 and 2012. Generation Alpha: Born roughly between 2013 and 2024. Generation Beta: Born roughly between 2025 and beyond.
Whatever Generation it is, it sounds like the current generation in their condemnation of truth and common sense.
Lets go back to our original scripture as we close out this thought.
1 Corinthians 12:21-22 “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:” Scripture tells us that every part of humanity is needed to “make the world go round”, so to speak. This particular portion of Scripture is talking about the members of the church all being necessary for the church to function as it should. Id like to expand this thought to make people understand that all knowledge and wisdom from whatever source needs to be considered.
All sports games have rules, driving a car has rules, working at a corporation has rules, and so does life. God set those rules even before creation. His plan is the very best for mankind. God promises blessings for those who listen. He also told us the consequences for not listening and friend, all things that break rules has consequences.
2Chronicles 15:2 “And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”
Look at the last sentence of that verse… “The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” Seek God and He will be found, forsake Him and He will forsake you. If nothing else, this is common sense. Let me leave you with one last verse to help guide you in this life…lThessalonians 5:21 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
