Members of the Vian FFA Chapter won firstplace honors in the state FFA land judging career development event during the 2025 Oklahoma FFA Interscholastics on April 26.
Team members included Natalie Guthrie, Ally Trotter, Kala Gibbins and Gracie Risley. In individual placings, Guthrie, Trotter and Gibbins earned second-, third- and fourth-place honors, respectively. Winners of this event qualify for the National Land and Range Judging Contest.
The Vian agricultural education instructors and FFA advisors are Trent Trotter and Charlotte Trotter.
The land judging CDE consists of four sites for which the soil characteristics are judged and correct treatments prescribed.
The Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture and the OSU Department of Plant and Soil Sciences hosted the contest. CEV Multimedia and Genesis Enterprises LLC will provide a cash award to the team for expenses related to the national contest. The high individual’s $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by the Noble Research Institute.
