Local wrestler wins two titles at OKUSA State Championship Tournament

TULSA — River Valley Freestyle Academy wrestler Jaydan Gates won two titles at the 2025 Oklahoma United States Championship Tournament, which took place May 24 at Arvest Convention Center.

Gates, who wrestles for the Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling team during the regular season, took gold in both freestyle and Greco-Roman competitions at 175 pounds in the age 14-and-younger division.

Gates also won two championships, the Greco-Roman championship and the freestyle championship, at 175 pounds in the age 14-and-younger division, at the Southern Plains Regional Tournament on May 17 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center.

Gates is eligible to participate in the 2025 USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals, which will take place June 2729 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
