Numbers 24:23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this! Balaam the son of Beor was a seer at the time Israel was being led o of Egypt. As Israel approached the Kingdom of Moab, its prince, Balak, called Balaam to ask him to curse this people. The story is long how Balaam tried to get God to allow him to curse Israel. This was the famous, or rather infamous conjuror of the East, whose awful history is so fully recorded in the book of Numbers, and whose most awful end is given to us in the 31st chapter of the same book, and 8th verse. Numbers 31:8 “And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.”
