Infrastructure, funding, insurance measures approved by Gore School Board
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor

The Gore Public Schools Board of Education convened for its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on June 9, where it efficiently moved through its agenda, beginning with unanimous approval of the consent agenda.

One of the key decisions of the evening was the approval of funding commitments through the federal USACErate program. The board authorized funding for data transmission and internet access totaling over $26,000 for the 2025-26 school year. Vyve Broadband A, LLC was awarded the contracts for two funding requests: $11,761.63 under FRN 2599002486 and $14,720.40 under FRN 2099002481.

The board also unanimously approved a new district liability and casualty insurance quote from the Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group. The policy, totaling $153,683.00, will cover the district in the coming year.

Principals Tonya Pugh and Amanda Andrews presented their regular reports, followed by a comprehensive update from Superintendent Lucky McCrary. His report included a district budget update and a list of ongoing and planned summer projects. Highlights included exterior painting of the Lower Elementary (LE) gym, the construction of a sidewalk to the softball dressing room, and updates on the official representation of the Gore Professional Teachers Association (GPTA), which is now represented by the Professional Oklahoma Educators (POE) following a majority vote by certified teachers on June 2.

In other business, the board approved the use of the LE gym by Miccha Johnson for basketball practice during the summer season. The practice sessions are scheduled from June 10 through August 1.

The meeting concluded with an update and feedback session on the district’s bond project with input from the district’s architects. The meeting was adjourned at 8:02 p.m.

Special meeting

During a nine minute special meeting of the Gore Board of Education on May 23, the board members convened at 11:30 a.m. where they unanimously voted to approve the consent items as listed, as well as a contract with Nicole Goodman as a certified temporary teacher for girls basketball coaching for the 2025-26 school year.
