Psalms 115:13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
One of the many wonderful things about God is that He is no respecter of persons. He judges each on their own merits. He looks at individuals as separate from the remainder of those around them. What He sees in each of us dictates blessings or not. He wants to bless us all, yet some people place themselves out of the way of blessing by poor choices and outright sin. Now the fact that God judges each on his own merits can be good or scary. You see, as the Creator of mankind, God can see the “thoughts and intents of the heart”. (Hebrews 4:12) He can do that because He is our Creator. Because He has that ability, He can easily identify those on whom His blessing far and those who will have that blessing withheld.
There are certain blessings that God performs for His people that everyone benefits from; the warmth of the sun, the rainfall, the sprouting of seeds, etc. We take all this for granted, yet the Book of the Revelation tells of times when all we rely on will stop. The best part for Christianity is that during this awful part of earth’s history, we are safely in Heaven with Jesus. I Thessalonians 4 tell us of the great calling out of the Saints from earth. Both great and small; both rich and poor, will be called up to heaven if faith is found in their hearts. All others are left behind.
There are some good movies that try to express this time in Earth’s history. All the movies from the year 2000 on are inaccurate at best, but Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins wrote a book series call “Left Behind” in 1995. It is fiction, but much closer to what the book of Revelation talks about. It is an awful time when things become chaotic. The sun and moon are effected as well as the earth. People by the millions die in the devastation because they chose to be enemies of God And again, both small and great will suffer equally during this time because God has seen in their hearts and Christ did not reside there. Small and great could have been enjoying blessings, but they chose the path of sinfulness instead of the path of righteousness.
1Peter 1:17 “And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:” Hebrews 4:12-13 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
Do you see it? “All things are naked and open unto the eyes of him”. Bible Schools call that Omniences, which means “all knowing”. We are compared to God’s Standard of living and by our own choices we are in God’s Will or we are out of God’s Will. It another simple statement that I share with you. It is your choice. You may chose God’s Way or you may chose the wide path that many scoffers follow.
Jesus said it plainly, Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Small and Great will all face the untimate Judge. Revelation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
Where will you be your standing during this Judgment Seat. Your life is shown by the choices you have made. Seek God and He will be found. Ask for forgiveness and He will forgive. Ignore Him at your own peril.
Remember, Psalms 115:13 “He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.”
