In a swift but significant decision during a special meeting on July 7, the Gore Board of Trustees approved a leadership change within the Gore Police Department.
The meeting, called to order at 6 p.m. by Mayor Robin Henry, moved into executive session to discuss personnel matters involving police chief Tracy Christenberry and officer Randy Taylor.
Following a 26-minute executive session, the board reconvened and took formal action. Vice-mayor Larry Pack motioned to approve Christenberry’s request to step down from his position as chief of police, transitioning into the role of assistant chief of police. The motion passed unanimously.
In a corresponding move, Mayor Henry motioned to promote Randy Taylor to Gore Chief of Police, contingent upon a signed employ- ment contract. That motion was seconded by Trustee Randy Foley and also passed with unanimous support from the board.
The meeting was adjourned just two minutes later at 6:28 p.m.
This leadership shift marks a new chapter for the Gore Police Department. Officials have not released further details regarding the reasons behind Christenberry’s decision or the terms of Taylor’s new contract.
