Sequoyah County residents showed up in multitudes Saturday for a benefit BBQ and auction that helped raise money for the families of Cash Collins, Brad Lewallen, and the late Ely Smith, who were all critically injured in a fireworks accident in Tuskahoma on July 2.
The event kicked off at 5 p.m. at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds with the BBQ, followed by live and silent auctions at 6 p.m.
Organizer Rachel Fair said a total of $116,000 was raised for the three families, which will be divided evenly.
“Your generosity and kindness reminded us all what true community looks like. Whether you donated your time, money, talents, or simply shared the event to help spread the word, know it made a real impact,” Fair said. “Every bit of love and support brought strength to these families during a time when it was needed.”
