Sallisaw Police seek suspect in Sunday shooting
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

Authorities in Sallisaw are actively searching for a man considered armed and dangerous following a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon.

Police say the suspect, 63-year-old Todd Smith, is wanted on multiple felony charges after a violent altercation at a home on North Maple Street. Officers were dispatched to 706 N. Maple at about 12:46 p.m. on July 27 in response to reports of a physical fight involving a firearm. Upon arrival, they found one individual suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was treated and later released from the hospital.

Later Sunday, law enforcement, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, executed a search warrant at Smith’s residence near Redwood and Hickory Streets. While investigators found evidence at the home, Smith was not present.

Smith is now wanted on several charges, including feloniously pointing a firearm, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Officials urge the public not to approach Smith if spotted.

“He is considered armed and dangerous,” said a department spokesperson. “If you see Todd Smith or have any information regarding his location, please contact Sallisaw Police at 918-775-4141.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
