Funeral services for Verbal Nell Petty Parker, 92, of Vian, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Agent Mallory-Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial was at Macedonia Cemetery in Uniontown, Ark., under the direction of Agent Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parker was born on Jan. 20, 1933, in Webbers Falls to Luther Petty and Alma Lona (Moore) Petty. She passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Vian.
She traveled across many states helping her husband build churches and serve communities.
She married Marvin J.L. Parker on June 15, 1949, in Farmersville, Calif. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2023.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Dean Fugate and Terri Jane Parker; one son, Steven and Debra Parker; four siblings, Donna Phillips, Yvonne Womach, Janett Harris and Dennis Petty; six grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Violet Petty; son, Stanley Parker; and brothers, Luther Jr., Vernon, Charles, David, Edward, Eugene and Harry Petty.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Fugate, Marvin Fugate, Michael Anderson, Andrew Fugate and Steven Parker.
