Funeral services for Bethel “Leon” Fitzsimmons, 93, of Sallisaw, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.
Mr. Fitzsimmons was born on Dec. 7, 1931, in the Akins community to Eula (Allen) and Coleman Fitzsimmons. He passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.
He graduated from Central High School, and enjoyed farming, fishing and gardening. He spent many years working abroad in the oil fields.
He was married to his wife, Judith, on Oct. 11, 1974.
Survivors are his wife, Judith; daughter, Nina Hamilton and husband Mike; son, Kelly Fitzsimmons and wife Terrie; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma McCormick and Colene Miller; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Goldie Light Fitzsimmons; son, Cole Fitzsimmons; four sisters, Joyce Fullbright, Dorothy Woodord, Pauline Fitzsimmons and Lois England; and a brother, Carney Fitzsimmons.
Pallbearers were Kelly Fitzsimmons, Trevor Fitzsimmons, Jake Fitzsimmons, Mike Hamilton, Keith Lynch and Christopher Thomas.
