Marble City Farmers and Art Market will host a “Can You Take The Heat” challenge at 12 noon on September 20, and is encouraging entrants to join the friendly contest to see if they can win the championship crown.
The 3rd annual hot pepper eating contest will feature cayenne, habanero and ghost peppers, along with the hottest pepper around, the Carolina Reaper. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place, with the winner receiving a crown.
Participants will be asked to read and sign a waiver, because these peppers are hot! Registration will end at 10 a.m. the day of the contest and entrants will need to indicate if they have any dairy allergies upon registration. Relief will be provided for each participant after they bow out, or win.
Peppers for the contest will be provided by Mizzfits Produce, Adventures Guild and Rose Farms, which are local vendors of the Marble City market.
The contest will take place at the Event Pavilion, 112. N. Main, Marble City.
