Funeral services for Lt. Sandy Girdner, 65, of Sallisaw, wrecked held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Buffington Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Ms. Girdner was born on Oct. 30, 1959, in Lake Charles, La., to Flairie Belle (Turner) Smith and R.B. Smith. She passed away on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, in Hackett, Ark.
She spent 28 years as a law enforcement officer with the Sallisaw Police Department, where she achieved the rank of Lieutenant.
Survivors are two daughters, Stephanie Smith of Muldrow and Amy Ruggles and Zack of Hackett; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Linda Newberry of Sallisaw, Cheryl Riggs and Don of Sallisaw, and Kathy Johnson and Dale of Hackett; brother, Rick Smith of Pocola; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Mike Schaefer.
Pallbearers were John Owens, John Weber, Larry Blount, Beau Gabbert, Dennis Neff, Tucker Martens, Cindy Smith, Dennis Brewer and Larry Lane.
Honorary pallbearers were past members of the Sallisaw Fraternal Order of Police, along with the officers with whom she worked and held dear.
