District 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp has been honored as the 2025 Oklahoma Bar Association Prosecutor of the Year. The award, announced August 8 during a ceremony at the University of Central Oklahoma, is presented annually based on nominations from criminal defense attorneys statewide.
Thorp, who represents Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah, and Wagoner counties, called the recognition especially meaningful.
“This is a huge honor,” Thorp said. “The fact that the nominations are made by my colleagues from the criminal defense bar is incredible. I have always emphasized fairness and integrity in my practice, and I have so much gratitude for this commendation.”
A veteran prosecutor with 27 years of experience, Thorp has served as District Attorney since Oct. 1, 2017. He is no stranger to statewide recognition, having received the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association’s David L. Moss Award for District Attorney of the Year in 2020 and again in 2023.
In addition to his prosecutorial work, Thorp recently served as president of both the District Attorneys Council and the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association for the 2024–25 term.
