Upcoming live auction hopes to replicate ‘tremendous success’
By LYNN ADAMS SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

As you consider what you have, what you wish you had, what you never thought you’d have, have you ever thought about owning a municipal street sweeper or a garbage truck or a bucket truck? How about a backhoe or a street saw or even a dump truck? Who hasn’t dreamed of having their own ice machine or dumpster, or, better yet, their own storm siren? If nothing else, how about buckets of bolts, nuts and hardware?

If that sounds like it’s right up your alley, then a live auction the City of Sallisaw is planning to conduct by mid-October may be just the place you’ll want to be.

Sallisaw City Commissioners last week declared about 18 vehicles along with a handful of mowers and a lengthy list of assorted equipment and materials as surplus, and approved selling the items to the highest bidder.

Sallisaw City Manager Brian Heverly told the commissioners that the last live auction the city held was in 2021.

“We had a tremendous success the last time we did a live auction,” he said his research showed. “That is everything from individual vehicles to lot items of the old water meters that we’re taking out.”

The list provided for review by the commissioners included: Vehicles
