Gore Lady Pirates go 3-4 last week
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

The Gore Lady Pirates went 3-4 last week on the softball diamond.

The week for the Lady Pirates got underway with a 2-1 road loss to Roland on Sept. 8, then they split their Sept. 9 home games with Quinton — winning the opener 1-0 but losing the nightcap 9-0.

In the Interstate 40 Shootout, which took place Thursday at Central High School and Saturday in Roland, the Lady Pirates went 2-2.

On Thursday, the Lady Pirates routed Checotah 12-1 and beat Central 6-2, but they lost twice on Saturday — losing 4-0 to Roland and 5-0 to Muldrow.

In Monday’s loss to Roland, the Lady Rangers scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Pirates (11-8) tried to mount a game-tying rally in the seventh inning as they scored once, but they left the game-tying run at second base.

In defeat, Kylie McEver doubled and scored once, Kennedy Williams doubled with an RBI and Jimma Peevy singled for Gore.

Alevia Reasnor (8-4) was the hard-luck loser as she threw a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

In the win over Quinton, Peevy (3-4) threw a five-inning three-hitter.

Reasnor’s two-out RBI single scored Maddison Douglas with the game’s only run in the third inning.

For the game, Sophie O’Connor was 2-for-2, Reasnor hit an RBI single and Douglass singled and scored the game’s only run.

The Lady Savages, who led 1-0 after an inning, put away the game with a pair of four-run innings in the third and fourth innings.

In defeat, Reasnor was 2-for-3, Peevy doubled and McEver and Emily Daily each singled for Gore.

Reasnor suffered the loss, despite fanning six batters in four innings.

In the I-40 Shootout win over Checotah, Reasnor threw a fourinning three-hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Lady Pirates, who trailed 1-0 in the opening inning, scored three runs in the first inning, four runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In the I-40 Shootout victory over Central, the Lady Pirates scored single runs in each of the first two innings, then added a run in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning for a 6-0 lead.
