Despite not being at 100 percent due to injuries, the Gore Pirates still routed the Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats 42-6 last Friday night at K.G. Horn Stadium for their first win of the 2025 season.
Bladin McCartney scored on touchdown runs of 6, 29 and 26 yards, while back-up quarterback Zach Comer scored on TD runs of 18, 15, and 18 yards.
McCartney scored two two-point conversions, while Comer scored one two-point conversion.
After a scoreless tie after one quarter, the Pirates (1-2) led 12-6 at halftime, but they put away the game with a 22-0 third quarter for a 34-6 lead after three periods.
“It was good,” Gore coach Brandon Ellis said about the win. “We moved some guys around for what we needed to do. We had a really good game plan on defense. We had a game plan going into it, and we moved guys around (on offense). One of the big things that helped out was just our discipline as far as penalties wise. We had very few penalties.”
The Pirates will be idle until they begin District AII-3 play with their homecoming game against Mounds at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at K.G. Horn Stadium.
