Gore Lady Pirates go 2-1 last week; district tournament to begin this week
By David Seeley Sports Editor

After a disappointing start to the week, the Gore Lady Pirates ended things on a two-game winning streak.

After losing 9-6 to Porum at home on Sept. 15, the Lady Pirates used a four-run, walkoff, seventh-inning rally to defeat the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs 8-7, then they defeated the Riverside Conference rival McCurtain Lady Bulldogs 10-8 on Thursday.

In the loss to Porum, the Lady Panthers rallied from a 6-1 deficit with a six-run fifth inning and a two-run sixth inning to earn the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Emily Daily was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, Alevia Reasnor doubled and scored once and River Shoemake doubled with two runs batted in for the Lady Pirates (13-9).

Reasnor (9-5) suffered the loss, despite getting four strikeouts in seven innings.

In the dramatic home victory over Muldrow, after the Lady Bulldogs broke a 4-all tie with a three-run seventh inning, the Lady Pirates responded with a fourrun seventh inning, with the game-winning hit being a two-out, RBI single by Kylie McEver.

For the game, Daily was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, Sophie O’Connor was 3-for-5 with her third home run of the season, two RBIs and two runs scored, McEver was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Cheyenne Davidson was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Gore.

Davidson (2-0) got the win in relief, going the final two innings with two strikeouts. Reasnor got the start and went the first five innings with three Ks.

In the home win over McCurtain, the Lady Pirates, who trailed 6-1 in the fourth inning, took the lead for good with a seven-run fourth inning and a two-run fifth inning to take a 10-6 lead.

For the game, Daily was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored, Reasnor was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Davidson was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Mylee Bruce doubled and scored twice, McEver tripled and scored twice and Shoemake hit her second home run of the season with three RBIs for Gore.

Reasnor got the victory, going the first five innings with 10 strikeouts. Davidson got her first save of the season, going the final two innings.

After the Lady Pirates entertained Keota on Monday, they were slated to begin postseason play in the Class A District Tournament on Tuesday at Cameron with Webbers Falls.
