The Gore Town Board moved swiftly through a packed agenda last Tuesday night during its regular meeting, approving a range of measures from financial housekeeping to the adoption of a new ordinance concerning compensatory time for the School Resource Officer (SRO).
The board unanimously approved minutes from both the August 19 regular meeting and the Aug. 29 special meeting, as well as the August financial report and purchase orders.
A key item on the agenda was the passage of Ordinance No. 09-16-2025-1, which outlines the use of compensatory time by the town’s SRO. The ordinance was not only approved but also passed as an emergency measure, signaling its immediate implementation.
In support of local events, the board authorized a $500 advertising purchase for the upcoming Fall Cruise Night on October 4. Clerk Lisa Settlemyre also reminded the public about the popular Fin and Feather weekend, set for September 26–29. Additionally, she noted that sidewalk improvements around the pickleball court had been completed.
The board accepted the resignation of Bret Visor and moved forward with the appointment of Brenden Keith and Anderson Ohl to the Gore Volunteer Fire Department.
For vehicle repairs, the board approved a quote of $8,744.28 to repair a 2012 Audi, choosing the lowest of three presented estimates.
Department reports
Police Chief Randy Taylor reported a busy period with 53 calls for service, 158 traffic stops, 86 warnings, 14 citations, nine assists to other agencies, and 32 reports filed for the previous month.
Fire Chief Justin Ohl reported 23 total calls, including 21 medical, one motor vehicle accident and one brush fire.
Ohl also announced that the department would co-host a free CPR and first aid class on Sept. 20, at the Gore Sports Complex.
Following the town board meeting, the Gore Public Works Authority met briefly, approving standard financial items and the same $500 allocation for Fall Cruise Night advertising.
