KEOTA — The Webbers Falls Warriors got their second win of the 2025 football season last Friday night, beating the host Keota Lions 30-20.
Trailing 20-14 in the second half, the Warriors (2-1) scored twice in the second half on two touchdown passes by Brutus Robinson to Gunner Shelby — one a 53-yarder and the other a 67-yarder, the latter score put the icing on the cake. After the 53-yard TD pass play, Robinson hit Trysten Wilbourn on the two-point conversion, while, after the other TD pass play, Thadan Yandell scored the two-point conversion to make it 30-20.
Trailing 6-0 after a quarter, the Warriors scored a safety as the Keota punter had the snap go over his head and out of the end zone to cut Keota’s lead to 6-2 with 11:47 left before halftime.
After the Lions (1-1) scored to take a 14-2 lead with 6:31 remaining in the first half, the Warriors got a 49-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Wilbourn with 4:50 left before halftime to cut the Keota advantage to 14-8 at halftime.
Robinson’s 53-yard TD pass to Shelby early in the second half knotted the game at 14-all before the Lions scored a touchdown to regain the lead at 20-14.
For the game, Robinson passed for 274 yards and three touchdowns, while Shelby caught six passes for 174 yards and two TDs.
The Warriors will have a short week as they will entertain the Cave Springs Hornets, coached by former Vian softball and basketball coach John Mays, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Smokey Cox Stadium.
