CAMERON — The Gore Lady Pirates won their first fast-pitch softball district championship in five years as they won the 2025 Class A District Tournament on Thursday.
The Lady Pirates, who last won a fast-pitch district crown in 2020, went through undefeated, defeating Webbers Falls 19-1 and beat district-host Cameron twice by scores of 7-0 and 1-0.
The Lady Pirates (16-9) will advance to this week’s Class A Regional Tournament, which site, teams and match-ups were not set as of press time.
In the win over Webbers Falls, Gore pitcher Alevia Reasnor (11-5) threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in three innings.
The Lady Pirates scored nine runs in the first inning to put away the game. After the Lady Warriors scored their lone run in the second inning, the Lady Pirates came back in their half of the frame with 10 runs to put the game into run-rule status.
For the contest, River Shoemake was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, Jimma Peevy was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored, Kylie McEver was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and a run scored, Maddison Douglass was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Reasnor doubled with two RBIs and a run scored and Emily Daily tripled with three runs scored and two RBIs for Gore.
In the first victory over Cameron, Peevy (5-4) threw a four-hitter with three strikeouts.
The Lady Pirates broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the third inning, two runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the seventh inning.
For the game, Reasnor was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, Peevy was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Sophie O’Connor doubled and scored once for Gore.
In the district-clinching win over Cameron, the Lady Pirates scored the game’s lone run on a Cameron error in the fifth inning.
For the game, Peevy was 2-for-3, while Shoemake, Douglass and Hallie Brewer each singled for Gore.
Reasnor threw a twohitter with eight Ks.
