John Vard Chatbum Jr. was born on April 19, 1933, in Albion, Idaho, to J Yard Chatbum and Eva (Lemon). He passed away on Sept. 22, 2025.

Private family burial was held on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Sallisaw City Cemetery.

He graduated from Albion High School and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed teaching and coaching the girls basketball team and in 1974, received the Coach of the Year. He later became principal at Morrison High School and enjoying golfing.

He married Charlotte A. Cotton on Dec. 29, 1957. Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Charlotte; sister, Jeannine Bennett; and other relatives and friends.
