POCOLA — The 2025 fast-pitch softball season came to an end for the Vian Lady Wolverines as they suffered two losses on Sept. 23 in the Class 2A Regional Tournament, losing 12-0 to Haskell and 12-4 to Okemah.
The Lady Wolverines, whose regularseason finale against Sallisaw on Sept. 22 at Armstrong Park was rained out, ended the season at 9-22.
In the loss to Haskell, the Lady Wolverines were one-hit by Lady Haymaker pitching, with the only hit being a single by Eden Girty.
The Lady Haymakers scored three runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second inning and a run in the third inning for a 12-0 lead to put the game into runrule status.
Leila Cheater (2-8) suffered the loss, only lasting a little more than an inning. Jordyn Cowett went the rest of the way.
In the season-ending loss to Okemah, the Lady Panthers broke a 3-all tie with a four-run third inning for a 7-3 lead. After the Lady Wolverines scored once in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 7-4, the Lady Panthers put the game into run-rule status with a five-run fifth inning.
In defeat, Rayleigh Terrill doubled with two runs batted in and a run scored, Halli Russell singled and scored once and Girty, Cowett, Cheater and Scarlett Fields all singled for Vian.
Cowett (0-5) suffered the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in three innings. Cheater went the final 1.2 innings with three Ks.
