The Vian Wolverines opened District 2AII-4 play with a 47-14 rout of the Spiro Bulldogs last Friday night at St. John Stadium.
The Wolverines (3-1 overall, 1-0 in district play) put away the game by the end of the first quarter as they took a 33-0 lead.
In the opening quarter, Masyn Wright scored on touchdown runs of 65 and 31 yards, Draighton Fletcher scored on TD runs of 92 and 15 yards and Trace Sanders had a 22-yard fumble recovery return for a score. Cash Trammel hit three extra points.
Wright completed the hat trick with a 9-yard touchdown run with 11:10 left before halftime, then Ledger Folsom returned a punt 65 yards for Vian’s other score of the period. Trammel’s two PATs put the Wolverines ahead 47-0 at the half.
The Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1) scored once in each of the final periods of the second half to avoid the goose egg.
For the game, Fletcher rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while Wright had 115 yards rushing and three Tds.
On the defensive side of the ball, Sanders had a 22-yard fumble recovery return for score, Folsom and a 20-yard interception return and Wright had an interception.
The Wolverines will return to action at 7 p.m. next Friday with a road district contest against the Antlers Bearcats.
