The Webbers Falls Warriors ran their winning streak to three games as they routed the Cave Springs Hornets 44-8 last Thursday night at Smokey Cox Stadium.

The Warriors (3-1) jumped out to a 22-0 lead after a quarter, which became a 30-0 halftime lead.

Brutus Robinson had a hat trick off scores on touchdown runs of 1, 62 and 5 yards, while he connected with Thadan Yandell on two TD passes — one a 7-yard touchdown pass and the other a 5-yarder. Yandell also caught a two-point conversion pass from Robinson.

Austin Barger scored the final Webbers Falls TD on a 21-yard run, while Caden Carter had a hat trick of two-point conversion runs.

“We did play well,” Webbers Falls coach Trent Holt said about his team’s performance in Thursday night’s win over the Hornets, who are coached by former Vian softball and basketball coach John Mays. “We pretty much did what we wanted to do. Offensively, we’ve changed a little bit of what we’re doing. We’re trying to throw a little bit more, and give our (running) backs chances to block. We’re playing better offensively. We played pretty good defense. They didn’t try to do a whole lot to us. They just tried to run the ball, and it’s hard to do that anymore.”

The Warriors will play their final non-District BII-4 game of the season when they travel to meet the Savanna Bulldogs at 7 p.m. this Friday.

Omission

In last week’s game story, it was accidentally omitted that quarterback Brutus Robinson scored on a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of the previous game against Keota.
