Gore Lady Pirates see season come to a close in regional tournament

The 2025 fast-pitch softball season came to a close for the Gore Lady Pirates as they lost 11-1 in five innings to host Hominy in the Class A Regional Tournament loser’s-bracket final on Friday afternoon in Hominy.

The Lady Pirates, who lost their home regularseason finale 14-9 to the Keys Lady Cougars on Sept. 30, split their first two games in the Class A Regional Tournament on Thursday, losing 6-0 to regional-host Hominy before eliminating Seiling 4-3 in eight innings.

The Lady Pirates ended the season at 17-11.

In the home regularseason finale loss to Keys, the Lady Cougars broke a 6-all tie with a five-run sixth inning to take an 11-6 lead. After the Lady Pirates cut their deficit to 11-8 after six innings, the Lady Cougars put away the game with a three-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Alevia Reasnor was 2-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, River Shoemake doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Kylie McEver hit her third home run of the season for Gore.

Jimma Peevy (5-6) suffered the loss in relief, going the final four innings with five strikeouts. Reasnor started and went the first three innings with six Ks.

In the first regional- tournament loss to Hominy, Hominy pitcher Keagan Walker threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

The Lady Bucks scored twice in the first inning, three runs in the second inning and once in the sixth inning.

In defeat, Emily Daily, Kennedy Williams and Sophie O’Connor each singled for Gore.

Reasnor (12-6) suffered the loss, despite recording seven strikeouts in seven innings.

In the regional-tournament win over Seiling, a passed ball scored McEver with the gamewinning run in the eighth inning to keep Gore’s season going to that point.

For the game, Peevy was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, McEver doubled and scored once, Williams singled and scored twice and Maddison Douglass singled for Gore.

Reasnor got the complete- game victory, fanning five batters in eight innings.

In the season-ending loss to Hominy, the Lady Bucks scored twice in the first inning and nine runs in the third inning for an 11-0 lead. The Lady Pirates got their lone run in the third inning on Shoemake’s RBI single. scoring Daily. However, when the fifth inning ended and the Lady Bucks were up by 10 runs, the game ended due to being in run-rule status.

In defeat, Daily was 3-for-3 and scored the Lady Pirates’ only run, McEver was 2-for-2, Shoemake had an RBI single and Cheyenne Davidson singled for Gore.

Peevy took the loss, going the first 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Reasnor went the final 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.
