He married Nancy Ann (Furner) Sparks on June 13, 1975, in Poteau.
At just 22 years old, he became a business owner in Sallisaw, where he proudly operated several businesses throughout his life. He also had a passion for raising Missouri Fox Trotters and riding.
Survivors are his wife, Nancy of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Oberste and Jamie Cleveland and Michael, all of Sallisaw; son, Larry Michael Sparks of Sallisaw; several grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Sparks and Sandra Holman, both of Sallisaw; two brothers, Dale Sparks and Barbara and Joe Sparks and Beverly, all of Sallisaw; two sisters-in-law, Rose Ann Furner of Fort Smith, Ark., and Coletta Furner of Lavaca, Ark.; brother-in-law, Stephen Furner and Debbie of Rogers, Ark.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael James Cleveland; sister and her husband, Earlene and Bob Barger; and three brothers-in-law, Dale Holman, Bill Furner and Scott Furner.
Pallbearers were Stephen Oberste, Matt Oberste, Ben Oberste, Max Sparks, Alex Sparks, Jack Sparks, Charlie Cleveland and Michael Cleveland.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Randolph, Stephen Furner, Bo Forehand, Colton Burgess and the late Mike Rhodes.
Graveside service for Larry James Sparks, 75, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at Brushy Cemetery in Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
