ANTLERS — The Vian Wolverines won for the third straight week and captured their second consecutive District 2AII-4 victory with a 42-8 road victory over the Antlers Bearcats last Friday night.
The Wolverines (4-1 overall, 2-0 in district play) got a 76-yard touchdown run by Masyn Wright and a 2-yard TD run by Draighton Fletcher, plus two extra points by Cash Trammel, to go up 14-0 after a quarter.
Wright recorded a hat trick of TD runs before the first half ended as he scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Trammel and took it in from six yards out on a run to double Vian’s advantage to 28-0 at halftime as Trammel hit both PATs.
Wright got his fourth touchdown of the night with 8:11 left in the third quarter as he scored on a 2-yard TD run. Trammel’s extra point increased Vian’s advantage to 35-0.
After the Bearcats (14, 0-2), losers of three straight, scored their lone touchdown and two-point conversion, Ledger Folsom scored on a 17-yard TD run with 25 seconds left in the third quarter. Trammel completed a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs.
For the game, Wright rushed for 136 yards and scored three touchdowns while catching two passes for 17 yards and a fourth TD. Fletcher had 102 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Trammel threw for 86 yards and a 10-yard TD pass to Fletcher.
The Wolverines, who announced on their Facebook page on Saturday that the regularseason and district finale at Valliant was moved from 7 p.m. Nov. 7 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 due to lack of referees, will return to action against the Atoka Wampus Cats for another district game at 7 p.m. this Friday at St. John Stadium to celebrate homecoming.
