CASA for Children is urgently seeking at least 25 additional community members to step in and serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers for children living in foster care across Muskogee, Sequoyah, Wagoner and McIntosh Counties.

CASA volunteers are everyday people who are screened and trained to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Volunteers work directly with children, families, caseworkers and the courts to ensure that every child has a consistent, caring voice during one of the most uncertain times in their lives.

“Every child deserves someone in their corner who will fight for their needs and their future,” Suzanne Hughes, Executive Director of CASA for Children, said. “There are too many children, right now, in our community who are still waiting without an advocate. We need more volunteers to meet that need.”

CASA for Children is calling on individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds to consider becoming a volunteer advocate. No prior experience or training is required. Volunteers will receive pre-service training and ongoing support that will allow them to make a lifelong impact for the children they serve.

The next volunteer training class begins in November and enrollment is now open. Those interested are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to begin the screening process to enroll in the upcoming session.
