Gore 4-H members spent National 4-H Week learning how local government works — right inside the Sequoyah County Courthouse in Sallisaw.
Students sat in on the County Commissioners meeting, met District 2 Commissioner and Vice Chairman Beau Burlison, and learned about the important work our elected officials do to serve Sequoyah County.
They also toured the Treasurer’s Office, Assessor’s Office, Sheriff ’s Office, and the OSU Extension Office to see how local government operates each day.
4-H is one of the nation’s oldest and largest youth development programs, empowering young people through hands-on learning in leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Here in Gore, we’re proud to have a strong 4-H program that’s woven into our school and community.
From STEM and robotics to public speaking, photography, arts, and community service, 4-H helps students discover their interests while learning responsibility, confidence, and teamwork.
