“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you;” (I Sam 12:23).
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14).
“And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight” (I John 3:22).
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26).
Prayer is communion with God the Father in the Name of Jesus Christ.
We have access to God through prayer. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer.”
Power
If you profess to be actively involved as a Christian, you must have prayer power. Prayer is the “power” that unlocks all the storehouses in the Word of God and fills your life with the blessings of Jesus Christ. It brings God’s blessings to your life!
The Bible says it is a “sin” not to pray for one another (I Sam. 12). The Christian can’t know God without prayer and the study of His Word.
His Will
It’s all about love! It is about praying His will in the power of His Holy Spirit. “Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:27). This is when the power of prayer is seen in the life and God is glorified.
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (I John 5:14-15). Again it is prayer according to His Will…not ours. His will is in His Word. We must study to know Him and learn how to pray.
Sin
What will hinder you from praying His will? It is sin! Just because you profess Christ does not mean that He will hear and answer your prayers. Presuming is sin! Un-confessed sin in your life means no fellowship with God. No fellowship with God means that you are powerless in prayer. “Your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you” (Isaiah 59:2:2). If we are to develop “prayer power” we must repent.
Prayer and His Word will build strong Christians. Prayer changes the world! But first it must change the Christian.
I hear professing believers who are living in sin boast that God is answering their prayers. But I have to disagree. According to His Word, He turns a deaf ear. If you are not doing things that are pleasing in His sight, He does not answer you. So, who is answering your prayer? At the cross God had to turn His back on His own Son because of “sin. Will He not turn His back on you and me if we are living in sin?!
Challenge
The Church needs prayer power today. How is your prayer life? If your local church prays as you do, will it be powerful? Prayer is the area of the Christian’s life that Satan will definitely try to prevent. He knows it has power! So pray!
Space does not permit me to share more with you on prayer, but I encourage you to study what the Bible says on prayer. It will change your life! When we spend time in His Word and prayer, we become more like Him.
Unbeliever
God is waiting to hear your prayer of repentance to Him and place your faith in His Son Jesus Christ as Savior. This is the only prayer He hears of the unbeliever. Will you trust Him? He loves you and will save you. Believe in Him!!!
Pray for one another (James 5:16).
