Gore wrestler runner-up at Oklahoma Open

MIDWEST CITY — Gore Pirates Youth Wrestling wrestler Jaydan Gates ended up runner- up at 170 pounds in the age 15-and-younger division at the 2025 Oklahoma Open, which took place Oct. 17-18.

Gates defeated Oklahoma City Saints Wrestling’s Alexis Terraz 3-0 in the quarterfinals before losing to Shelton Wrestling Academy’s Zyler Gonzalez 9-6 in the semifinals. Gates bounced back by defeating Hennessey Takedown Club’s Connor Kelly by pinfall in 30 seconds in the con-solation semifinals, beat Piedmont’s Talon Grady 4-3 to advance to the second-place match and then pinned Derby Wrestling Club’s Bronson Lopez in 1:11 in the second-place match.
