Vian’s 8th annual Burnin’ Down Main Street, featuring a car show and burnout competition is set for Saturday, Nov. 8, in downtown Vian at the Anna Belle Farmer Park. This year’s event is hosted by B&B Auto and Vian Wheel and Tire.
“We are gearing up for another great event,” Sammy Bolin, co-organizer, said. “All the trophies have arrived and this year, we’re offering a free commemorative dog tag to the first 30 car show contestants.”
In addition, Bolin said a new category has been added.
“Every year, I see really awesome and unique automobiles drive by the car show and when asked why they don’t want to enter, the usual response is they don’t feel like their car is good enough to be in a car show,” Bolin said.
“So, if you have a cool old car but your scared it’ll die coming to a stop sign, or it leaks so much you have to carry a catch pan with you, then I have a trophy for you!” he said.
The trophy is for the “Biggest Pile” and the winner will be handed a bronze toilet seat.
Bolin said car show registration is at 12 noon with judging starting at 2 p.m. with a $500 cash prize and trophy going to Best in Show.
Cost for registration is $20 day of the show.
The burnout competition starts at 4:30 p.m. and awards and cash will go to the top three: First will receive $1,000, second will get $500 and third, $250.
Participants are encouraged to register early, with the same registration fees as the car show.
Organizers said a portion of the proceeds will go back into the community.
