The Gore Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Oct. 13, where members handled several routine business items, set next year’s meeting schedule, and approved a resolution to call for an upcoming board election.
During the meeting, members approved General Fund encumbrances 153–180. No Building Fund encumbrances were listed. Nick Humphries then provided the superintendent’s report, followed by a brief discussion noting there were no staff resignations to consider this month.
An item of business was tabled due to missing documentation, with the board agreeing to revisit it once materials are received.
The board then approved a resolution calling for an election for Board Seat No. 1, a fiveyear term. The primary election is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2026, with the general election set for April 7, 2026. Candidate filing will take place Dec. 1–3, at the Sequoyah County Election Board.
Members also approved the 2026 regular meeting schedule, which will continue on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Dates approved include Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9, and Dec. 14.
In other business, the board approved several contracts, agreements, and policy updates for the 2025–26 school year, including:
• DBCA – Standards of Performance and Conduct
• COB-R – Procurement policy
• Surplus items: basketballs and old wrestling mats
• Substitute teachers: Avery Wisdom and Nickole McClelland All items were approved unanimously. With no new business, the meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
