Colossians 2:6-7 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
THE DAILY walk of the Christian soul is so absolutely important because it is our witness to the world. Our character, as exemplified in our behaviour, is the world’s only Bible and sermon. 2Corinthians 3:2 “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” Let us learn to walk so as to please God, and to bless mankind. To walk is at first a matter of considering every little step, but afterwards it becomes the habit of the soul. Colossians 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” The true importance of walking with the LORD is evident when you read all of Paul’s writings. We have been corrupted by the World around us. We have taken on the likeness of this evil world and share thoughts with the devil himself. Several Christians have overlooked the truths found in the Old Testament because they are taught they are New Testament Christians, yet Christ was of the Old Testament. His walk was after the teaching of the Old Testament. There was no New Testament even written yet.
There are many things about Jesus that the world does not want to address. As Jesus hung on the cross one of the few times He spoke was to ask God to forgive mankind. Luke 23:34 “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”
Forgiveness was such a part of His ministry that if we walk in Him, then forgiveness should be a major part of our lives. He healed, cast out devils, and forgave sins, yet in the world today there is hatred for offenses some people didn’t even know they committed. I have spoken to people who literally hate anothre person and that person really didn’t know what he had done.
Forgiveness is just one aspect of walking in Him, but it is probably the most important. Remember what Jesus said; “for they know not what they do”. That explains many things in the lives of ppeople around us. Many have no clue that they are offending their Creator with the life they live.
Paul tells us we are ambassadors for Christ. 2Corinthians 5:20 “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.”
Being an Ambassador is to represent the preson who sends you. An Ambassador to Japan, repreents the President of the United States to those living in Japan. We in like manner are to represent Christ to a sinful world. Blending the last thought and this thought together we get people, men and women, who do not know any better than to live the lifew they are living until some ambassador shows them a better life.
Christian, just being a Christians is a better life than those living in the world. Having the Holy Spirit and His gifts is priceless. Having eternal life is priceless. For others to desire this life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, they look to other Christians. Paul Chapman wrote a poem I’ll share with you.
The World’s Bible
Christ has no hands but our hands To do His work today; He has no feet but our feet To lead men in His way; He has no tongues but our tongues To tell men how He died; He has no help but our help To bring them to His side. We are the only Bible The careless world will read; We are the sinner’s Gospel, We are the scoffer’s creed; We are the Lord’s last message, Given in deed and word; What if the type is crooked? What if the print is blurred? What if our hands are busy With work other than His? What if our feet are walking Where sin’s allurement is? What if our tongues are speaking Of things His lips would spurn? How can we hope to help Him And hasten His return?
