Gore Public Schools outlines its winter weather plan
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

As winter weather approaches, Gore Public Schools has released its annual reminder of how the district communicates schedule changes and implements modified bus routes during inclement conditions.

Superintendent Nick Humphries emphasized that while classes are expected to run as usual, the district will continue to carefully monitor forecasts and road conditions.

According to Humphries, families can expect timely updates whenever weather threatens normal school operations. “We will send notifications by 9 p.m. the night before whenever possible,” he said. “If more time is needed to make the safest decision, updates will be shared by 6 a.m. Our students’ and staff’s safety is always our top prior-ity.”

Announcements regarding closures, delays or transportation adjustments will be posted on the district website, school app and official social media pages. Teachers will also reach out to their classes or activity groups using their usual communication methods.

Snow route transportation plan If hazardous road condi-tions prevent buses from traveling their normal paths, Gore Schools will shift to “snow routes.” Under this plan, buses operate only on highways and designated intown streets, with students from rural or hard-to-access areas meeting at specific pickup points.

Route #1 – Ms. Jill

• Morning pickups along Hwys. 10 and 10A at usual times

• Stop at “the Y” at 7:15 a.m. before heading to the high school

• Afternoon drop-off along Hwy. 10A, with drop at “the Y” between 3:35 and 3:45 p.m.

Route #2 – Mr. Tidwell

• Morning pickup at the Hwy. 10A and Hwy. 100 intersection from 7:10 to 7:20 a.m.

(This includes riders from the Dollar General and Or- chard Road area.)

• Route continues along Hwy. 100 only; no side-road pickups

• Afternoon drop at Hwy. 10A/100 intersection from 3:35 to 3:45 p.m.

Route #3 – Mr. Shry – Moonshine Area

• Bus will not travel up Moonshine Road

• Morning pickup at the lot across from Moonshine Road from 7:30 to 7:40 a.m.

• Afternoon drop at the same lot from 3:25 to 3:45 p.m.

Route #4 – Mr. Yargee – Carlisle/Hwy. 64 East

• Morning pickup at the water office/fire department at 7:15 a.m.

• No pickups on Carlisle–Round Mountain side roads

• Bus will follow its regular Hwy. 64 route into town

• Afternoon drop at the water office/fire department at about 3:50 p.m.

District officials encourage families to review the snow routes in advance and plan accordingly.

“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” Humphries said. “Working together helps ensure everyone stays safe during winter weather.”

For more updates, community members are encouraged to follow the district’s official communication channels.
