For the past five years, Angela Cox has quietly assembled care sacks for members of our local homeless community. Each sack is thoughtfully filled with hats, socks, emergency blankets, gloves, snacks, drinks, and an assortment of other essentials, along with a warm flannel blanket.
During this time, Sallisaw Police Officer LaLita Armer has had the honor of delivering these items to individuals who often have nowhere warm to go during the cold months. Officer Armer shared that it is a privilege to witness the excitement and gratitude of those who receive the sacks each year.
Up until now, Cox has chosen to remain anonymous. This year, however, Officer Armer encouraged her to allow both the homeless community and the public to know the generous heart behind this act of love and kindness.
“Angela has done so much for this community and the police department that has gone unrecognized for too many years, and she deserves the recognition,” Officer Armer said.
Heartfelt thanks is extended to Cox for her continued compassion and dedication to helping those in need.
