Central teams sweep Gans squads to end 2025 portion of season

The Central High School basketball teams ended their pre-Christmas Break portion of their season on high notes as they swept a pair of games from the host Gans squads on Dec. 16 at Bryant “Big Country” Reeves Fieldhouse.

The Lady Tigers began the night with a 6822 win over the Lady Grizzlies, then the Tigers tamed the Grizzlies 79-16.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Tigers (4-1) jumped out to a 14-6 lead after a quarter en route to a 35-8 halftime advantage and a 53-9 lead after three periods.

For the game, Cambree Bair scored a gamehigh 19 points and Paris Campbell added 18 points to lead Central, followed by Sadie Huff with eight points, Cheyenne Busch with seven points, Sara Williams with six points, Sarah Buchanan and Alexxus Bolin with four points each and Charlie Petree with two points.

In the boys’ game, the Tigers (4-0) jumped out to a 23-2 lead after the first quarter and never were headed.

For the game, three players, Josh Brunk, Noah Buzzard and Kiefer Bailey, each scored a game-high 10 points to lead Central, followed by Jake Woods, Brycen Chandler-Eisman and Cale Stewart with eight points each, Braxin Goodson with five points, Gavin Randolph, Paitton Merrill, Aiden Cawhorn and Kage Poindexter with four points each and Ryder Justice and Jace Money with two points apiece.
