Clifford Ray Minter

July 3, 1948 – Dec. 5, 2025

Funeral services for Clifford Ray Minter, 77, of San Jacinto, Calif., formerly of Sallisaw, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church in Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on July 3, 1948 in Wetumka, to Ruby Lee (Johnson) Williams and Kenneth Minter and passed away on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 in Tulsa.

He was married to Theresa (Starks) Minter on April 20, 2011, in Sallisaw.

He graduated from Sallisaw High School and he entered the Marines on April 9, 1968. Cliff remained in the military until 1974 and served as Rifleman and received Honorable discharge along with awards for National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Rife Sharpshooter Bade, Vietnam Service Medal and Combat Action Ribbon. He worked for Blue Ribbon Downs.

Survivors are his wife, Theresa of the home; two sons, Demond Whitfield and Shauntee Williams-Whitfield of Los Angeles and Dontavius Minter Sr. and Miriam of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; five sisters, Linda Daniels of Tulsa, Arnell Taylor and Wayne of Redland, Janice Purley McArthur of Wade, N.C., Angela Stewart and Eugene of Powder Springs, Ga., and Lisa Brown of Sallisaw; four brothers, Ricky R. Hill and Rachel Hill of Sallisaw, Emmanuel L. Hill of Las Vegas, Glen W. Johnson of Tulsa and Troy M. Carter and Karen of Sallisaw; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Phillip S. Hughes, Rufus E. Hill and William M. Hill, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Avery Whitfield and Issaiah Whitfield.

Pallbearers will be Demond Whitfield, Troy McKay Carter, Dontavius Minter, Jr., Eugene Stewart, Dontavius Minter, Sr., Ricky Hill, Robert Yarborough, Wayne Taylor, Emmanuel Lee Hill and Glen Wayne Johnson.

Viewing will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The family will greet from 6 to 8 p.m.
