Gore approves superintendent contract, new head football coach

The Gore Public Schools Board of Education conducted its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 8, in the Gore Schools Board Room, addressing routine financial matters, personnel decisions and administrative reports.

Board President Jeremiah Perryman called the meeting to order at 6 p.m., followed by the board members unanimously approving encumbrances for both the General Fund and Building Fund.

Superintendent Nick Humphries presented his monthly report, highlighting district updates, while principals Amanda Andrews and Tonya Pugh shared reports on activities and progress at their respective sites.

In personnel action, the board unanimously accepted the resignation of Brandon Ellis.

At 6:32 p.m., the board entered executive session to conduct the annual superintendent evaluation and to discuss the hiring of an Upper Elementary/High School (UE/HS) teacher for the second semester, as authorized under Oklahoma law. The board reconvened into open session at 7:44 p.m. and announced that the executive session complied with state statutes.

Following the closed session, the board approved Humphries to continue serving as superintendent for the 2026–27 school year. Members also approved the hiring of Crystal Campbell as a UE/ HS teacher for the second semester.

Additional action included the approval of Gifted and Talented committee members for the 2026–28 school years, along with any potential revisions to district GT policies. The board also approved all items on the consent agenda.

There was no new business brought before the board. The meeting adjourned at 7:51 p.m.

Special meeting

The Gore Public Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of a new head football coach during a brief special meeting on Dec. 15.

Board members unanimously voted to approve Nathen McCurley as head football coach and assistant athletic director for the 2026–27 school year. The motion was made by board member Gary Cunningham and seconded by Lester Keathley. All members voted in favor.

No additional business was discussed during the meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 6:08 p.m., concluding the board’s action for the evening.
