WILBURTON — Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State University Lady Mountaineers split their season-opening doubleheader with Arkansas-Rich Mountain last Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Mountaineers took the opener 8-5 before losing the nightcap 9-1.
In the opener, Wells went 3-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored in the opener, while getting a single and her second stolen base of the day in the nightcap.
The Lady Mountaineers (1-1) will have three days worth of action coming up, with two of those being at the Texoma Health Foundation Winter Blast — which will be this Friday and Saturday in Denison, Texas.
The Lady Mountaineers will meet Barton Community College at 1:30 p.m. and host Grayson County at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, then face Blinn College at 1:30 p.m. and Temple College at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Then, the Lady Mountaineers will return home to meet Coffeyville Community College for a 1 p.m. twinbill next Tuesday.
