By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor

The Gore Public Schools Board of Education approved new teaching hires and adopted the 2026-27 school calendar during its regular monthly meeting on Feb. 9.

During administrative reports, Superintendent Nick Humphries updated members on district matters. Principal reports were delivered by Tonya Pugh and Amanda Andrews, who shared updates from their respective sites.

In personnel matters, the board unanimously approved the adjunct hiring of Tyler Lewis as U.S. History teacher and Kyle Wooten as Earth/ Space Science teacher for the 2025-26 school year.

Board members also approved the 2026-27 school calendar based on submitted instructional hours.

In other action, the board approved consent agenda items with a clarification to item B, specifying that use of the softball cages must receive prior approval from the head coach and athletic director.

With no resignations presented, and no new business brought before the board, the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.

Board approves contracts, accepts resignations in February meeting

The Gore Public Schools Board of Education approved multiple temporary teaching contracts and accepted two resignations during its regular meeting on January 12.

The board unanimously approved General Fund purchase orders 233-250 and Bond Fund purchase orders 4-5, following a motion made by board clerk Gary Cunningham and a second motion made by board member Lester Keathley.

Superintendent Nick Humphries presented the superintendent’s report, while principals Amanda Andrews and Tonya Pugh delivered updates on their respective sites. Details of the reports were not specified in the meeting minutes provided.

In personnel matters, the board voted unanimously to accept the resignations of Crystal Campbell and Reagan Jacobs.

The board then entered executive session at 6:17 p.m. to discuss the employment of a high school/upper elementary teacher and a special education paraprofessional, as authorized by Oklahoma law. Members reconvened in open session at 6:31 p.m. and announced compliance with executive session requirements.

With no new business to address, the meeting adjourned at 6:36 p.m.
